Scholarship / Research Grant
A portion of the money we raise from our Annual Greek Independence Day Run will be used for a $2,000 scholarship or research grant each year to help promote and preserve the Hellenic American heritage.
Announced for the first time at the Annual Greek Independence Day Run of 2010.
In honor of Mary Kumarelas Mousalimas, founder of the AHS.

- To help with the cost of studies or research projects related to Hellenic American (Greek American) history and/or culture.
Eligibility
Who is eligible?
Here is a description of each of these categories:
Graduate Students: Scholarship
- Students at graduate level in an accredited, degree-granting institution of higher learning may apply for this as a scholarship.
Limitation = graduate level.
- Students at graduate level in an accredited, degree-granting institution of higher learning may apply for this as a scholarship.
Professional Researchers and Fellows: Research Grant
- Researchers as well as fellows in any bona fide institution of research may apply for this as a research grant.
Amount
How much money is available?
- $2,000.
- Source: Annual Greek Independence Day Run proceeds.
- Contingency: If the application criteria are not met during one year, the money will be used the next year.
Application Procedure
Deadline:
- December 1st of each year.
- The award will be announced at the AHS Annual Greek Independence Day Run of the following year.
Submit:
- Personal name and contact data
- Institution's name and address
- Statement of how the money would be used
- Letter of recommendation
- Résumé (curriculum vitae)
- Sample of original research
