Description
In Los Angeles, June 30 - July 4, 2002, the 36th Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America featured a Historical and Folk Art Exhibit created by the Greek Heritage Society.
The exhibit included historical photographs of Greek pioneers and their families. There was a chronological photographic display of churches in the Southern California part of the San Francisco Diocese. Featured was St. Sophia Cathedral, which celebrated its golden anniversary in 2002.
Also included was a display of priest and bishop vestments, ecclesiastical items, folk art, embroideries, tapestries, historical documents and banners from early pioneers. A beautiful collection of twenty authentic Greek costumes was one of the highlights of the exhibit.
