Centennial

Events

On October 8 and 9, 2005, the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church celebrated the centennial of the formation of the Hellenic Orthodox Community Association of Pueblo, which had been chartered in October 1905. The church itself, completed in 1907, is one the oldest still in use in North America.

Metropolitan Isaiah of Denver and other clergy were scheduled to be in attendance at the centennial celebration. Metropolitan Isaiah conducted a Memorial Service for the departed. Parish members read names of departed souls.

An exhibit of community history was displayed. The history of the Greek community in Pueblo was told.

A thorough description of the schedule and events can be found in the Pueblo Greek Orthodox Church web-site, centennial web-page.
