First Greek people arrive in Lancaster.

1909-1921

Liturgical services are held in various halls until St. John Evangelical Church is used.

1921

Ground is purchased for $2500 on Vine Street. The Methodist Church is purchased for $14,500.

1921, Sept. 9

Church charter is signed.

First Divine Liturgy is performed.

Greek Language School is organized.

1925

Ladies's Society is organized.

1926

Order of Ahepa is chartered.

1936

First choir is organized under Fr. Michael Thomas.

1938

Maids of Athena is chartered.

1939

Sunday School is organized.

1949

Daughters of Penelope is chartered.

1954

Senior GOYA is organized.

1954

Building Fund Committee begins activities.

1956

Parent-Teachers Association of the Greek Language School is organized

1958

Lot at 64 Hershey Avenue is purchased for $16,000.

1959, July 5

Archbishop Iakovos breaks ground for the new church building.

1960, June 5

First Divine Liturgy is performed in the new church building.

1961

Parish accepts the Constitution of the Archdiocese.

1963

Parish Free-Lending Library of religious and inspirational books is initiated.

1964

Two women are elected to the parish council for the first time.

1965

A program for decoration for the church interior with authentic Byzantine art begins.

1965

Our parish directs a lecture tour through 75 parishes of our Archdiocese for Bishop Nankyamas of Uganda, East Africa, on behalf of his Orthodox Mission.

1965

A Christian Stewardship Program of supporting the church ministry is initiated.

1966

Annunciation Church becomes one of the first eleven churches to officially support the Social Ministry of Lancaster County.

1966

Fr. Paul de Balester, a missionary priest of Mexico and Central America, lectures in sixty parishes. His tour is organized and supported by our parish.

1967

A new Building Fund drive begins for an All-Purpose Educational Building.
